About the Field Days

Our Field Days take place twice a month (except for July and August) on Saturday mornings between 10:00 am and 12:00 noon. We work at Sullington Warren on the second Saturday, and Sandgate Park on the fourth Saturday of the month.
We are always looking for willing hands to help us care for these lovely wildlife sites. We are very proud of the work we have been doing to improve these sites, but always need extra volunteers to help us on these conservation projects.
The work we do includes: thinning and planting trees; coppicing; clearing footpaths, ponds and streams along with many other interesting tasks.
We supply all tools, gloves and other relevant safety equipment. We also explain the reason for undertaking a particular project and how to use the simple hand tools we use safely.
Our Field Days are an excellent way to learn new skills and make new friends. Everybody works within their capabilities which make our projects suitable for people of all ages.
Many young people join us on our Field Days to fulfil the service part of their Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. They invariably gain an enormous amount from their time with us. In addition to learning conservation skills our projects are an excellent way to develop teamwork skills.
It's not all hard work either as we stop for coffee and cake halfway through or enjoy a beer shandy or lemonade at the end of the morning.
Please check the programme section of this website to find out exactly what work we are doing and where we plan to meet. Alternatively look out for our posters that we put up around the village to find out details.
