Come and help take care of this Local Wildlife Site. Please note that Sandgate Park refers to the area owned and managed by Horsham District Council, not the area of park that overlooks the quarry and is owned by CEMEX.
We plan to clear invasive plants from around the stream by the humped bridges and to have a fire to burn off the cuttings. Be aware that sparks from the fire can damage clothing, especially fleeces, so wear clothing that you do not mind getting damaged.
Meet at the benches by the heather mound, near Sandgate Lane entrance to the woods, opposite twitten from Hillside Road. Please be punctual, or even a few minutes early, because as we are working at a location away from the heather mound you may find it difficult to find us if when you arrive we have moved to that location.
Tools, gloves and refreshments will be provided, but feel free to bring your own gloves if you prefer. We break for refreshments at around 11:00 am
All welcome. Under 18s must be accompanied by an adult for safeguarding reasons
All are welcome – you do not need to be a member of Sandgate Conservation Society, though if not we will likely encourage you to join.
Please check this Facebook page or the Sandgate Conservation Society website on the morning of 22 November, before you set off for Sandgate Park, in case unforeseen events have led to the cancellation of the conservation morning.
