Come along and help take care of this Site of Special Scientific Interest.
The plan for this coming Saturday is to do some gorse removal and to block of some ‘desire lines’. Desire lines are unauthorise paths made by people. They cause damage to Sullington Warren by causing erosion and potential damage to protected archaeological features, as well as degrading habitats (e.g. damaging the heather) and disturbing wildlife.
Please wear appropriate clothing – long sleeve and trousers to protect arms and legs from the spiky vegetation would be a good idea – you may also want to consider some eye protection. The wearing of sturdy shoes is also recommended. Also bring some refreshments for the mid-morning break.
Any necessary tools will be provided but it is recommended that you bring your own gloves.
We will be led by Chloe from the National Trust.
Start time is 09:30 – please be prompt.
Meet at the top of the slope above the Water Lane car park (if approaching from other entrances head up the 39 Steps and keep walking along the top for about 200 metres until you get to a point that a number of paths meet including the descending path to the car park).
