Come and help take care of this Local Wildlife Site. Please note that Sandgate Park refers to the area owned and managed by Horsham District Council, not the area of park that overlooks the quarry and is owned by CEMEX.
We meet at the bench opposite the heather mound, on the path from the gate on Sandgate Lane that is opposite the twitten that runs between Hillside Road and Sandgate Lane. Please be prompt as we usually move away from the meeting place to where we will be working and it may be difficult to find us if we have already moved on.
The usual tasks are clearing the rhododendron, cutting back vegetation encroaching on paths etc., clearing brambles, and similar tasks. Tools are provided. Wearing stout boots is recommended – the ground is likely to be wet and muddy and can be uneven, and appropriate clothing to protect against scratches. Eye protection if you have any would also be a good idea. Please bring your own gloves if you can though gloves will be available.
We take a short break at around 11am – please bring your own refreshments.
All are welcome though under 18’s must be accompanied by an adult unless by prior arrangement.
