The task this month is clearing in and around the stream that separates the Horsham District Council part of Sandgate Park from the Cemex owned, publicly accessible, green space adjacent to their Sandgate Park sand quarry.
The stream is running low due to the dry weather but waterproof boots are advised. Also to protect against scratches and stings from brambles, nettles and other vegetation, the wearing of trousers and long sleeved tops is also advised. Stout gardening gloves are also recommended – bring your own if you can but gloves will be available if you need them. Eye-protection if you have any would also be a good idea. Tools will also be provided.
We have a short break at around 11:00 am. Bring your own refreshments e.g. a drink and perhaps a snack.
Meet at the bench opposite the heather mound on the path from the gate to the park Sandgate Lane (about 200 metres up from the Sandgate Lane / Water Lane junction). Please arrive in good time – a few minutes earlier than 10:00 am, so that we can all leave for the work site together.
All are welcome – you do not need to be a member of the Society to take part in our conservation mornings, though we will invite you to join the Society. Persons under 18 years old should be accompanied by an adult.
